Microsoft Windows 10 Logo

The creation of the new Windows 10 Hero Desktop Image incorporated blasting lasers, billowing fog, and falling crystal dust to develop the stunning look that you will see rolling out soon, with all new Windows 10 based PC’s that are sold.

When Microsoft decided they needed a radical new desktop image for the Windows 10 operating system they enlisted design director GMUNK and laser specialists Future Weapons ( to create an exciting new logo made entirely out of laser light.

Microsoft released a YouTube video detailing the methodology used in the creation of the hero image. Laser projections were mapped to a 2D surface of the Windows logo while atmospheric beams created a 3D volumetric effect which gave the logo depth and movement. This took the traditional flat logo and transformed it into a luminous portal filled with lasers.

Microsoft has made it their goal to convert one billion users to Windows 10 over the next two to three years. This will make the Windows 10 hero desktop image one of the most recognizable laser images ever created!

Pangolin’s new Beyond laser control software was used to create the laser projection mapping effects seen in the logo. The artists choose BEYOND due to it’s precise control capabilities. The laser control hardware used for the creation and playback of the content included Pangolin’s QM2000.NET, FB3 & APC40. The lasers used for the creation of the logo included Two KVANT ClubMAX 6000 projectors, purchased through the Pangolin Projector Referral Network. These specific units were chosen for their fast scanning capabilities (using the state-of-the-art Compact-506 Optical Scanning System) and because of their fantastic color balance.

Zurich Street Parade – Powered by Laserworld and Pangolin

The 2013 Zurich Street Parade in Zurich, Switzerland has grown to be one of the largest outdoor festivals in the country. This year, an estimated 950,000 people attended the event, and lined the streets to see the amazing laser show performance given by Laserworld AG. On Saturday August 10, 2013, top name performers like Bob Sinclair, Fedde Le Grand, Nicky Romero, Westbarn, and NERVO entertained and excited the crowds on the parade's eight large outdoor stages.

Nicky Romero and NERVO performed their acts on the main stage next to the Mythenquai, which were accompanied by a large laser light spectacle and live laser show. On the other stages (the Burkliplatz and concert hall) laser shows were also performed by Laserworld. All together, over 200watts of laser power was used for this event.

Laserworld used their professional RTI Nano series of laser projectors for the event.

Pangolin and our Partners ROCK the EDC Orlando Event

The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is known for it’s over the top production and jaw dropping visuals, so it was no wonder that when planning the 2012 Orlando EDC event, they contracted Full Color Laser ( one of the southeast’s premier laser companies, to control the lasers for this year’s show.

The EDC event hosted some of the World’s hottest DJs including DJ Tiesto, Afrojack, Armen Van Burren, Markus Schulz, and many other world renowned artists. With large stadium structures to project on and a slight mist in the air – The 50,000 party goers for this year’s EDC Orlando event where given a laser light show to remember which utilized a multitude of laser effects which could be seen for miles.

During the show on Friday and Saturday night, the technicians from Full Color Lasers collaborated with long time partner Nu-salt Laser ( to provide eight Full Color RGB White Light Laser Projectors for the two main stages. All of the laser projectors used at this event were controlled using Pangolin’s award winning QuickShow Laser Control System ( QuickShow proved to be an ideal laser control software for this event, because of it’s ease-of-use and flexibility in live show scenarios. The program and techs ran the shows flawlessly and each operator incorporated their own personal technique and style to go along with each performance. The energy from the crowd and talent behind the show made for an epic event.
